Gynae Cancer Narratives Project: A study that explores patients’ experiences of radiotherapy treatment for gynaecological cancer and the experiences of carers/significant others
Who can take part
Please note - unless we state otherwise in the summary, you need to talk to your doctor about joining a trial.
This study is open to volunteers from across the UK – you may be able to take part if you:
- have had a gynaecological cancer or are the carer/significant other of a person with gynaecological cancer and
- have received or supported someone receiving radiotherapy treatment and
- are willing to write about your experiences and share them with the research team
This is not an exhaustive list. If you're interested in participating in a clinical trial, you should speak to your doctor about what other criteria might apply.
About the trial
The research is looking into patients’ experiences of radiotherapy treatment for gynaecological cancers with the aim to:
- increase understanding of how radiotherapy impacts on social, personal and sexual lives and longer-term post-treatment experiences of gynaecological cancer
- explore the experiences of those who are/have been carers or significant others of someone with a gynaecological cancer
The researchers will use this information to try to improve future patient experiences of living with the social and personal impacts of radiotherapy.
If you take part in this study, you'll need to:
- provide a personal account of your experience of radiotherapy.
- provide a personal account of your experience of caring for a significant other who has had radiotherapy.
The researchers want to know about experiences before, during and after treatment. You'll be able to provide this information using written, voice or video recording methods. Participants in the study will be encouraged to write or record as many accounts of their experience as they'd like or feel able to. The research team will provide support and prompts to enable participants to do this.
The research team for this study is based in Lancaster, but are looking for volunteers from across the UK to take part.
