Frequently asked questions

Signing up

Can I sign up offline?

Yes, you can sign up over the phone by calling 020 7923 5474, or you can email us at

Can I enter the challenge after 1 March?

You are welcome to join the challenge after 1 March and continue until the end of the month or beyond. Please note that because we send our newsletters for each week of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month, they may not match the timings of your own challenge.

I’m taking part with a team. Do I need to register my team members?

If your team members would like to receive their own weekly newsletters they'll need to register with a unique email address. Otherwise, you're welcome to register one person and let us know your team members' t-shirt sizes.

During the challenge

When will I receive my t-shirt?

Your t-shirt will be sent out to you within five working days. If you have any problems with your order please get in touch and we'll be happy to help:

How do I record my steps?

Most smartphones now have a built-in pedometer, but don’t worry if your phone doesn’t have one. Most manual pedometers are inexpensive to buy or you may choose to cover the equivalent distance of 11,000 steps (roughly equal to 5 miles or 8km).

Do you ask for proof of my step count?

No, we don’t ask for proof of your step count. The 11,000 Steps a Day challenge is about coming together to raise funds and awareness during Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and it’s important that your challenge suits your needs and ability.

What happens if I don’t reach my step count or miss a day?

Don’t worry – it’s perfectly okay to make up the steps later on in the challenge. You may find it easier to do this across a few days or continue the challenge for a few days longer.

What if I need to withdraw from the challenge?

If you need to withdraw from the challenge for whatever reason we’d be grateful if you could let us know so that you don’t continue to receive our weekly newsletters. We'll still send you a certificate for any funds you’ve raised and you're always welcome to resume your challenge at a later date.

How can I raise £100?

If you’d like some tips on how to raise £100, you can read our fundraising guide [PDF] or our fundraising FAQ for inspiration. If you’re stuck for ideas, our fundraising team would be more than happy to help.

How do I set up my donation page?

You'll have the option of setting up a donation page as part of the online registration process. This donation page works with our online systems so we ask that you use it instead of other sites like JustGiving or Virgin Money Giving.

You’ll receive clear instructions on how to set it up, both during and after the registration process, and our team is on hand to give you any help you need.

Can I use sponsorship forms instead of a donation page?

Yes, you can print our sponsorship form [PDF] or please contact us if you’d like us to send you some:

When will I receive my fundraising pack?

You'll receive your digital welcome pack within five working days of signing up. If you still haven’t received yours after this date, please contact us:

If you’d like to order physical materials, just let us know by email, or you can fill in our material order form directly.

I've raised money offline, how do I pay in my sponsorship?

You can pay in your sponsorship online, by phone on 020 7923 5474, or you can send a cheque, made payable to ‘Target Ovarian Cancer’, to Target Ovarian Cancer, 30 Angel Gate, City Road, London EC1V 2PT. Please write your name and ‘11,000 Steps a Day challenge’ on the back of each cheque.

Is there a deadline for sending in sponsorship?
