Target Ovarian Cancer conducted a series of in-depth interviews with GPs to provide a more comprehensive examination of local diagnostic pathways. The research found there can be variation in how diagnostic guidelines are implemented, that GPs' confidence in spotting symptoms is tempered by a reality where cases rarely present as clear cut and that GPs value support from secondary care.

In 2017, Target Ovarian Cancer's GP Advisory Board carried out research looking at regional variation in the diagnosis of ovarian cancer across England. The research looked at three key indicators: diagnostic tests, stage at diagnosis and one-year survival rates.
