Ovarian Cancer Community terms and conditions

Think before you share

All posts and comments are visible to every member of the community, so please only post information that you are happy to share with all members and always be mindful that your views about what is considered offensive may differ from those of other members.

Respect everyone's privacy

During discussions some members may choose to share details of their personal experience. Please remember this may be sensitive and private and should not be shared beyond the group.

Not a substitute for medical advice

Discussions around diagnosis and treatment are welcomed, but any information shared in the online community is not a substitute for professional medical advice. Always consult a medical professional before making any health-related decisions. Target Ovarian Cancer is unable to respond to medical queries posted in the group.

If you have a particular concern, please contact our specialist nurse support line on 020 7923 5475 or speak to your treatment team. If you are feeling unwell with symptoms that are new to you, including but not limited to pain, vomiting, high temperatures, signs of infection, sudden changes to bladder or bowel function, it's important that you contact your GP, hospital team or CNS instead of posting in this group as you may need medical attention.

No personal data

This online community should not be used to collect or post any personal data. Please do not share your personal contact details on a post visible to the community. If you would like to share your contact details with a particular member, please use Messenger to send a private message.

Be kind and respectful

The group is there to support anyone affected by ovarian cancer. Any posts and comments that are insensitive, inappropriate or offensive are not permitted. Hate speech and degrading comments about such things as race, religion, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated. We are a supportive, respectful and friendly community and all posts should reflect this basic principle.

No harassing or personal attacks

Please do not harass other members with repeated or unwanted contact, as it may cause distress. Other members will have the option to mute, block and report anyone who they feel is harassing them. Furthermore, posts that include personal attacks on other members of the group or on specific health professionals are not permitted.

No promotion

You are welcome to post links to other web pages if you feel they would be helpful for other members. However, advertising or promoting another organisation's campaigns, events, services or resources, or posting anything for personal gain, is not permitted.

No spamming

Please do not send unsolicited messages repeatedly to the community or a member of the community.

No block capitals

Please refrain from using BLOCK CAPITALS on posts as it can make posts difficult to read and can be seen as shouting.

Be safety aware

You can always let us know if you're worried about someone on this group, whether you are using the main feed to communicate with other members or you are having conversations via private messaging. See our safeguarding policy statement for more information.
