New ways to learn and connect: genetics animations, digital events & support groups

We’ve launched new resources to support people with ovarian cancer, including animations on genetic testing, peer support groups across England, and upcoming digital events.

We’ve recently launched new services and information to support people living with ovarian cancer. These include animations to explain genetic testing, new peer-to-peer support groups launching across England, and upcoming digital events.

We also held a focus group with members of our community to help plan a support group for those with non-curative disease.

Genetics animations

We’ve newly published two short animations about genetics and ovarian cancer. They help to explain genetic testing, which can be complex and changes quickly as new research and guidelines are published.

To develop the new multimedia, we held a focus group with members from our OvarView panel. Following the discussion, we developed animations about:

The animated videos were co-created with the group who attended the focus group. They shared their input throughout the process reviewing the script and the draft animations.

The information is presented very well. It was so clear to understand and all the technical details were explained easily. These are really brilliant videos, and I wish they'd been available during my own genetic testing journey.

Incurable ovarian cancer support group

We recently held a focus group to plan what a support group might look like for those with an incurable diagnosis. 7 people with lived experience of incurable ovarian cancer shared their thoughts about what might be helpful but also some of the challenges facing this group and gave us lots to think about.

The group offered to work with us as we move forward with our plans which is fantastic, and we're very grateful for their support. We hope to be able to share more information about this group in the coming weeks.
