New ways to connect in the community

Pop-up connections are here! We're working with those affected by ovarian cancer, including families, friends and healthcare professionals, to build an inclusive and accessible network of support for anyone who needs it.

Last year we were thrilled to announce that we were awarded funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to develop a new England-wide service that aims to bring together those affected by ovarian cancer to support each other.

Introducing Let’s Connect: Target Ovarian Cancer communities

With Let’s Connect we're working with those affected by ovarian cancer, including families and friends, and healthcare professionals, to build an inclusive and accessible network of support, there for anyone who needs it.

Those with a diagnosis told us that there aren’t enough opportunities to meet others with ovarian cancer. That’s where Let’s Connect: Target Ovarian Cancer communities comes in. Whether those affected by ovarian cancer prefer to connect online or in their local community, Let’s Connect will provide a network of support, strength and community from people who understand what they’re going through.

We’ve been working on developing different ways for our community of those impacted by ovarian cancer to get involved with our exciting new service - Let’s Connect: Target Ovarian Cancer communities - and this summer we’re thrilled to launch Pop-up connections, and invite you to get involved by spreading the word, signing up to attend a get-together or organising your own!

What is a Pop-up connection?

Pop-up connections is a simple idea. It’s based on supporting each other and finding connections with others in your local area who are also impacted by ovarian cancer. These community-led get-togethers are for anyone affected by ovarian cancer. With a little bit of your time you can meet up and make meaningful connections – from planning a local walk and talk or hosting a virtual chat about gardening, to arranging a summer picnic with family and friends.

Ready to get involved?

We’re looking for those affected by ovarian cancer to:

  • Volunteer to plan a Pop-up connection in their local community
  • Attend Pop-up connections organised by someone else

If you or someone you support would like to find out how to plan a local Pop-up connection, we’re here to help!

We've created a new guide full of useful information including suggestions for activities, how to register an activity and how to get conversations started on the day.

To learn more about Pop-up connections; whether that’s so you can share with your community, register your own get-together or to find out about the Pop-up connections happening near you – please see our Let’s Connect page.
